With all of the history found the Niagara Region, a unique holiday experience can be had; a historic holiday, if you will. Both the McFarland House and the Laura Secord Homestead this year will be putting on holiday events. The McFarland Christmas tea is happening this weekend where you can enjoy a historic setting and a wonderful afternoon tea. An admission fee of $5.00 will cover your tour of the house and the full tea menu with holiday inspiration will be available.
After you are finished with your afternoon tea, make your way to the Laura Secord Homestead that will be decorated in period Christmas decorations. See how Niagara looked for Christmas during the war and if you have never been to the house before, the tour and stories are worth the trip alone.
Merry Historic Holidays!
We have visited Heartland Forest in the summer and from our post you know how cute we thought it was! Well the fun at Heartland Forest doesn’t have to stop at the end of summer. The wonderful staff at Heartland keep running different events throughout the fall season!
There is a Pumpkin Fest happening October 20th from 11-4pm which is perfect for your little ones. Help get everyone in the fall spirit with picking out and decorating some pumpkins to take home and spruce up your front porch. And to add a little fright to your life, why not try one of their Haunted Forest Walks. The night of the Pumpkin Fest, the first walk is at 6:30pm and the event runs until 9:30. But if you can’t make it out that night there will be Haunted Forest walks on October 26th, 27th and 28th.
Heartland Forest is a wonderful location which is barrier free and welcomes everyone! It is focused on the preservation of the Carolinian forest that the property holds and making it accessible to all types of needs. Donations are not mandatory but it helps to keep the facility and events running for all of the community to enjoy.

It is a wonderful trip for the family or a perfect way to spend the day with your sweet heart. Admission is $6/person or free for kids under 14!
Last year, Buskerfest was held in downtown St. Catharines, bringing in over 20,000 spectators to watch as world class street performers wowed the crowd. This year, the festival has been moved to our very own Queen Street in Niagara Falls with the LyndesFarne Theatre Projects in charge of the festival.
For those of you who don’t know, Buskerfests have been gaining popularity around the world in recent years. Street performers, such as acrobats, jugglers, daredevils and contortionists put on amazing acts right before your very eyes. This year there will be 150 performances and vendors across 5 stages along Queen Street. The event will run for 3 days from August 31st-September 2nd. This will be a great, exciting event to end your summer with! Bring the kids, grab some friends and be ready to be amazed.
For more information about the performances you can look forward to, make sure to check out the event on facebook.
