Posted by on Jan 23, 2013

Worried about your carbon footprint? Are you taking steps to a greener life? Best Western Plus Cairn Croft Hotel has been and is proud to tell you about it! Since the end of November, the hotel has been taking steps to make sure that their carbon footprint is smaller. Through the partnership with Planet Energy, the Cairn Croft is one of the first hotel’s to operate on 100% clean, green renewable power. Along with this power switch, investing in energy efficient and emission-reducing initiatives will help the hotel achieve their eco-friendly goals.

As part of this green initiative, the hotel is partaking in the Green Key Eco-Rating Program with the Hotel Association of Canada. This graduated rating system helps to recognize hotels that are committed to improving their environment. To help secure a higher rating and be more eco-friendly, the hotel encourages their guests to turn off the lights, use the recycling facilities, participate in a linen reuse program and use Niagara’s public transportation system while visiting.

Everyone at the hotel is really proud and excited about these new initiatives and hope that they become the regular amongst more hotels. To find out more about the staff and find out what they are doing to have a greener life, Cairn Croft has been “Meeting the staff that are going green” and spreading the word through their Facebook page. A different staff member is featured weekly to show how they have embraced the hotel’s greener thinking!
